What is it going to be? A guy like Francisco Rodriguez doesn't come in to set up for a guy like Axford. He might be our closer immediately, with the understanding that he won't re-sign with us and Axford is the closer for next season. Either way, Melvin is all in!
Who will we end up giving up anyways?

Well, he won't close more than 21 games, that's for sure. There is $17.5M reasons for that not happening. The one part of the deal I don't like (besides the closing limitation) is that Boras is K-Rod's new agent. He's already been quoting that K-Rod won't be going anywhere to be a set-up man. Nice remarks, Borass, let's make sure your guy gets his before the team that he's on wins, right? I would have rather seen a shortstop (like, maybe, the Mets shortstop...oh could you imagine), but with Loe blowing, hopefully this works out.
The "players-to-be-named" are dependent upon K-Rod's performance in Milwaukee. Nice bonus that the Mets are shipping a boat load of cash Milwaukee's way to defray some salary. The fire sale in Queens has started!
